June 21, 2009 - "Summer Has Broken"
Last week it was about a "Promise For the Future" and I indicated already that "Big Boy" (Kiang) might join me to the puppy class at KION (Dog Training Center) in Haaften (NL). About that a little bit later, sorry....
It was another hectic week for the family, but the good news is that sufficient time was spent to all of us. Be it Shadow, be it Xiong, be it Kiang or be it me. Of course it is never enough and it is a known fact that people serve Chow Chows to the best. Take a walk... We always are up front and behind us a human with a leash in one hand and a scooper or 'poop bag' in the other hand. Yes, someone has to clean. Isn't it?
The picture you see of me was taken during puppy class last week. Don't you think I'm getting prettier by the day? I'm 5 months old......
There is a climbing tool at the training center and this is something not easy at all. Climbing is already difficult and when you are at the top and then going down..... That feels strange.
But it learns you getting lots of self-confidence. See me and in the red T-shirt the trainer (Gunilla), Frank Willem and Helma. I have to admit having still a little fear, but definitely next time I do this 'hurdle thing' in one go and without snacks for rewarding.
Oh, do you see there Indy? That is a Labrador lady. When you look a bit better, you can see the tail of "Big Boy".
Big Boy!
Yes, Kiang joined me at the Training Center.
Look at us: Indy (the Labrador), Kiang and me. Of course running and having big fun is the best you can have. The three of us were allowed to do so. Look at Kiang's face! Running after each other and no mean thing at all.
Chow Chow Rocking' and Rolling' with a Labrador...... Indy, the sweet lady.
Yes, no trouble at all. Kiang and I have been educated very social. Gunilla, the trainer, was admitting that.
She told us that she only allows to have dogs running when there is sufficient confidence. Otherwise no way during the training-sessions to have dogs 'freely' around......
Woooow, a greater compliment Kiang and I couldn't get.
It was the first time again that Kiang was at a training since his puppy class and since he was feeling so exciting, it looks like he will get further training too after the Summer holiday period. Kiang loves to 'go social'.....
Gunilla asked to stay a little longer and so allowing Kiang to meet a young (about an 8 months old) Shepherd male missing some self-confidence. A thing she had observed with Kiang being strongly developed positively. There Diemen came and his owners were asked to undo the leash from him. Kiang immidiately went to welcome Diemen and Diemen showed having a little fear. His ears were hanging down. See the pictures.
For Kiang it was all nothing and his behaviour towards the Shepherd was only a matter of a friendly 'we are among friends'.....
In the meantime the humans simply were ignoring the scene and Indy and I stayed on a distance (leashed) looking to both.
What a drag....
Look how dignified Kiang is standing there, while the Shepherd still is having his head down Kiang's one.
His ears are still down too.
After a 5 minutes Gunilla gave the instruction to call, in an easy way, both Kiang and Diemen for getting leashed again.
That went very quiet. Kiang was blessed for his wonderful character and the way he had contacted the Shepherd. The Shepherd wagged his tail.
It was a successful evening and two happy Chow Chows went back home in order to be re-united with Shadow and Xiong.
In the car while we were driven home, me and Kiang went for a little nap. Yes, we had deserved that.
It is always the question who is in charge......... Isn't it?
That is me.....
(Me is always behind the stronger one..... and together we are strong)
I'm Hanna
