Hanna waiting to go for a walk

Now, what an experience last week.......
Of course with this time of the year you can expect showers and the streets and grass being really wet. The English have a nice expression for that; "It is raining cats and dogs!". But...but....ever seen a cat walking in the rain? Not me. But humans with umbrellas walking us dogs you see very regular. What will it be when someone invents a special umbrella for dogs? I have seen doggy rain-coats. Many humans hate to walk their dog when it is raining. But....., but, a step further ..... Imagine when a GPS company comes up one day with a navigation system (GPS) for dogs with the option to program a (Pi & Po) route? The owner simply will mount the GPS system on the back of a dog and activate an instruction protocol....... Having said that, see the first picture. Yes, that is me and on the left you see a towel..... Yes...for becomg dried after having been thoroughly wet.... The good news is....; Not a GPS on my back yet.
The reason I'm standing there is that my owners promised me - finally - to join the NCCC Boswandeling (The Dutch Chow Chow Club yearly Chow Chow Forest-Walk). My fans know that on many events my cousin Kiang or half-sister Xiong are joining and not me. So this Chow Forest-Walk was aimed for me. Great. No?

Het Leesten In The Rain

The day started okay, but while driving to the forest, where I was hoping to meet hunderds of Chow Chows, the clouds more and more covered the early morning sun. When we arrived in "Het Leesten" where the gathering would take place it was pouring. Oooooh...my coat....And it was so muddy..... In the picture on the right (a little up) you see some Chows. Do you recognize me? There was a special booth where the people and Chows came together before they went for the Forest-Walk. Do you count four Chow Chows? It was good to have that booth where we could shelter a while, because it started heavier raining. I spoke to my fellow walkers and all agree....; "Chow Madness At Utimate! Walking in the rain.....in the mud....Oooh!"  There was coffee for the two-legged ones and even they got an apple as provision during the walk..... And we, for whom it was all about? Nothing...... Not even boots......

Final, NCCC Chow Forest Walk

At the moment it started really "Raining Cats and Dogs" (what an expression when you are not English....) the Chow-Walk was started. There were about a 15 Chow Chows who had the courage to walk through the mud and who became soaked. The road we had to go was slippery and there were other dogs around. But we, as Chow Chows, behaved. It was good that 'we' Chows took the lead and our owners walked behind us. We pulled them through the heavy rainn and the slippery mud..... That was big fun, hoping that someone would hit the mud. "Who is, in fact, in charge? Of course pictures from all the attendants had to be made...... Look at the left. Do you recognize me again??? Yes, that cute one...
That is me...Just in the middle.....

Desna

More pictures can be found on the image-gallery. What a day it was. I was so dirty and wet that my owners complained about the necessity to clean thoroughly the car when back home. But, but.....what about me?.... A simple towel?
In spite of the bad weather and 'only' 15 Chow Chows it was a nice event and it was proven once again that Chow Chows are 'all weather proof'. And their owners?...... "That is another story!"
See the picture on the right. There you can see two 'humans' being soaked too (The owners of Desna).
Ooooh see the smile of that woman.

Well, this was a week with ups and downs. About the downs I hope to write at another occasion. The 'up'-thing this week is that our special friend in Austria turned 15 years youg on November 17. Yes, that is Poika. And of course our best wishes go out to to him and his two special ones...Tippa, the dark lady, and Christina, the NetChows' lady! A picture of Poika can be found in the Image Gallery. On the NetChows' BlueTongueTalk Forum there is a Topic about his Anniversary.

My father (see picture below) had his own way for bringing Poika the best wishes....

It's me!
